I'd give my left nut to resign Hemsky. Maybe $5.5M per for 4yrs, plus one slightly used left nut (no, not Greening, an actual testicle).

I think the magic number is $5 million per for Hemsky. I'd like to see him sign for the amount Michalek is making at $4.3 million per. Especially with our money situation. The term, I'd try to go just 2 or 3 years. He isn't the most healthy guy in the world. If we sign Hemsky, expect Spezza to be a Senator a long time. The way it should be.

If his play falls up in the final games, let him walk though. I doubt that will happen.

I think he signs somewhere around 4 year/19mil. I'd be scared to let him get more than that with the pay raise coming to Macarthur and Ryan among others. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets signed and they flip Bobby Ryan for a defenseman. I hope they get him relatively cheap, keep our top 6 intact but replacing Michalek with Zbad on the Spezza line. As for bottom six, get rid of greening and let the Lazars, pageaus, grants, stones all fight for ice time.

Does this hamstring the team for signing Ryan, Mac and whoever else is coming up? Not in respect of the cap, but maybe for this internal fudging budget.

I still think if it's a question of signing Ryan or Hemsky, we use that money on Ryan.
